Urd is one of the Norns in Norse mythology. Along with Verdandi and Skuld, Urd makes up a trio of Norns that are described as deciding the fates of people. Urd is together with the Norns located at the well of Urd beneath the world ash tree Yggdrasil of Asgard.
The Norn sisters Urd and Skuld are also represented in the stories: Urd is the older sister scheming ways to get Keiichi and Belldandy to move their relationship to the next level, while Skuld is the younger sister who disapproves of the relationship (being afraid she would lose her sister forever).
Urðr (meaning "past" in Old Norse, commonly written as Urd) is a Norn in Norse mythology. Along with Verdandi and Skuld, Urd makes up a trinity of Norns that are described as deciding the fates of people and gods. Of the three Norns, Urd is in charge of the past.
